KRG Warns on Oil Exports

The Kurdistan Regional Government has again warned Baghdad that it will stop exporting oil if the central government continues withholding payments to the oil companies operating in the region.
The KRG has set 1st September as the start date for halting oil exports. An official has said Baghdad has not given any indication that it will pay the oil companies.
Erbil halted exporting oil in April due to disagreements over central government payments, and it maintains that Baghdad owes $1.5bn to companies making investments in the region. It resumed exports on 7th August.
Kurdistan Region halted exports of crude oil in April this year after Baghdad rejected payments to the operating companies. The region resumed exports on Aug. 7.
