Iraq discusses Motorway Design with Danish Company
Iraq’s Minister of Construction and Housing, Mohammed Sahib al-Daraji [Darraji], has reportedly discussed plans for Highway No. 2, which runs from Baghdad to the Turkish border, with a Danish engineering design company.
According to the report from AKnews, the company concerned is called “Coy“, but Iraq Business News believes it to be Cowi Holdings.
The minister said:
“The ministry has asked the Danish company to start designing the roads again due to the bad surfaces that appeared over the past 30 years. Highway projects are strategic, important and will create a quantum leap in the country’s economy, because of their great role in the movement of goods and trade in general in Iraq and neighboring countries.“
Talks are continuing with the company to reach an agreement on the design for the project.
